  2. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is the main public transport operator of Delhi.It is one of the largest CNG-powered bus service operator in the world.
  3. Delhi Transport Corporation has the World's largest fleet of public transoprt running on environment friendly clean CNG fuel.

The Delhi Transport Corporation was incorporated in May 1948 by the Indian government for local bus services.It was again constituted as "Delhi Road Transport Authority" under the Road Transport Corporation Act, 1950. This Authority became an undertaking of Municipal Corporation of Delhi by an Act of Parliament in April, 1958.
  5. In 1971, control of DTU was transferred to the local state government.
  6. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employed 50 women as conductors, also appointed a 30-year-old woman named Venkadarath Saritha from Telangana as its first female driver.
  7. DTC employs around 18,000 people.
  8. Earlier DTC conductor tears off the ticket at two places: One, at the point where you board, and, two, your destination point. Now they have started the ticket print slip from machine which they carry. That slip have the info of boarded bus stop to destination bus stop with the price charged.

For journey to Lahore, there is a DTC Bus every Monday, Wednesday & Friday and PTDC (Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation) Bus every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. Fare is Rs.- 2400/- for 12 Years & above. Rs.- 1500/ Above 2 years but below 12 years.
  16. DTC has introduced its "Delhi- Kathmandu-Delhi" International Bus Service with effect from 25th Nov 2014. The Air-Conditioned luxury bus deployed for this service has 2X2 comfortable seating arrangement. Fare is Rs.2300/- for 5 Years & above.
  17. Delhi Transport Corporation shall pay charges per KM run to the registered owner of private bus if they tie up with DTC in Odd Even period for Pollution control.
  18. An in-house magazine called 'Dipani Patrika' is published by the DTC.
  19. DTC authorized Private route operaters (Cluster route operators like those purple/orange colored buses) and privately transporters.
  20. DTC has 77 properties spread across Delhi. Most of them are terminals or depots.
  21. At 2,08,369 sq metre, the DTC's Millennium Park Depot Complex in East Delhi is the largest bus depot in the world.

  27. DTC launches in house computerization of Bus Passes from 1st July, 2007. The pass holder gets an ID card along with the pass within 2 minutes. Bus Pass shall be issued for 1-2-3-4-5-6 (barring Senior Citizens who opt. upto 12 months) as per choice of the applicant except student concession destination pass which will be issued on month basis only. Passes to Freedom Fighters persons with disabilities shall be issued on yearly basis.
  28. The booking of special hire buses will be done at Corporate level i.e Scinidia House only.
  29. A total of 814 routes are covered across Delhi, out of these routes DTC buses are plying on 750 routes on Delhi Roads.
  30. The Mudrika Seva and Bahri Mudrika Seva, which run along the main Ring Road and Outer Ring Road respectively, are among the most popular routes. The Bahri Mudrika Seva extends for 105 kilometers and is the city's longest bus route! It encircles the whole city.
  31. DTC launched a popular airport bus service in late 2010. It connects Delhi Airport Terminal 3 with important locations including Kashmere Gate ISBT (via New Delhi Railway Station and Connaught Place), Anand Vihar ISBT, Indirapuram (via Sector 62 in Noida), Rohini (Avantika), Azadpur, Rajendra Place and Gurgaon.
  32. DTC buses are now GPS enabled, which helps the authority to keep an eye on it.
  33. The frequency of buses varies from 5 minutes to 30 minutes or more, according to the route and time of day.
  34. The major inter state bus terminals operated by Delhi Transport Corporation include: A. Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminus, Kashmiri Gate B. Vir Haqiqat Rai Inter State Bus Terminus, Sarai Kale Khan. C. Swami Vivekanand Inter State Bus Terminus, Anand Vihar.

  1. The AAP Government will soon roll out free rides in DTC buses and cluster buses for senior citizens (above 60 years of age) and students up to the age of 21. Also, there is a hefty concession in monthly passes for women commuters.
  2. The monthly DTC bus pass costs Rupees 850 for non-AC and Rupees 1,000 for AC buses. It would be available for women at Rupees 250 only.
  3. The Aam Aadmi Party Government has planned to facilitate travel on DTC buses with the use of the Delhi Metro smart card by the end of this year. They begun procuring chips known as Secure Access Modules (SAMs) from South Korea to ensure cashless transportation in the city. These chips will be fitted in the electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) that have already been handed over to the bus conductors.
  4. The Aam Aadmi Party Government also allocated Rs 100 crore for installation of CCTV cameras in all DTC buses, and each buse have three CCTV cameras each and 15 days' data is maintained
  5. There will be a panic button on each bus. The moment it is pressed, the control room Team will get an alert of that danger.
  6. According to the upcomming plan, from January, Delhiites were to get a flat fare of Rs 5 in non-AC DTC and cluster buses and Rs 10 for AC buses. At present, a ride in a non-AC bus can cost between Rs 5 and Rs 15. The AC buses charge between Rs 10 and Rs 25.
  7. Government has decided to buy 10,000 buses out of which few will be acquired through public-private-partnership.
  8. Delhi government has decided to depute marshals in all DTC and cluster buses plying in Delhi and they are also started visible in DTC buses.
  9. As a pilot project, CCTV cameras have already been installed in 200 buses
  10. People with monthly income of up to Rs 20,000 would also be provided bus passes at Rs 250
  11. The Delhi government will allow free travel for commuters in all DTC and cluster buses during the odd-even plan to encourage the use of public transport. Will allow odd-numbered cars to run on odd dates and even-numbered cars will only run on even dates.
  12. Very soon You can renew your existing monthly passes or purchase new passes using your Debit/Credit/Master/Visa Cards.
  13. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government introduced an electric bus, on a trial basis, in March last year. It is managed by the DTC and plies between the Delhi Secretariat and Central Secretariat. The bus was provided to the government by an Internationl firm, which had developed it, and registered an operating cost of around ₹12 per kilometre. The operating cost of a CNG-run DTC low-floor bus is ₹18 per kilometre.
